Longstanding Community Impact

Family First of Granville County

In 1994 and 1995, Tina J. Wheeler originated and wrote the grant that helped establish Family First of Granville County. The initiative was created to address minority low birth weight, infant mortality, and maternal and infant health disparities.

More than three decades later, Family First has become a nationally recognized program that continues serving families and has positively affected thousands of women. This 2026 letter of appreciation from Carolyn Yancey recognizes Tina’s leadership, dedication, compassion, and lasting contribution to the program’s foundation and continued impact.

Community Implementation

Strategy That Reaches the Ground

Advisory work only matters when it is implemented. Accion's nonprofit and foundation engagements have supported large-scale community distributions and service initiatives.
